Drumroll please!

Is it the end of the all white kitchen? We’ll find out in the next few years, but interior designers and these color giants are saying, “Yes!” We’re showcasing 2020’s top 3 colors as chosen by Sherwin-Williams, Behr & Benjamin Moore. After reading their descriptions and Without much ado- here they are.

Sherwin-Williams “Naval”  (SW 6244)

Interior decorators are raving about Naval. Words like timeless, restful, and personal are used to describe this color and we agree. Look for natural colors making an appearance in the next decade (and a turning away from neutrals blanketing every corner of the home). All three colors of the year follow this trend, but none more so than Naval.

Behr “Back to Nature” (S340-4)

The name does say it all. Back to Nature encourages the calming effect induced by natural landscape. While it isn’t as bold as Sherwin-Williams’ choice, it is a step away from the neutrals that have been popular over the last several years. This color gives you chance to explore color in your home without going full bore into jewel tones.

Benjamin Moore “First Light” (2102-70)

Rosy, light and airy, First Light is calling your name. Benjamin Moore’s Director of Color Marketing and Development is quoted as saying, “First Light 2102-70 reflects a new definition of the home—a shift in mindset from the material to satisfying the core needs in life: community, comfort, security, self-expression, authenticity and ultimately, optimism.”

As you plan your year- maybe with a new home in mind- keep these colors handy. Each company shares a palate of colors that compliment the color of the year (we added links for quick browsing), and you can transform the room in a few easy brush strokes. A decade of personality and optimism is on the way in the world of interior design and paint!
